Our vision of quality custom renovations and additions is evident in many of projects that the company has undertaken in the Bay St. North, Hamilton area.
A residential community that has been one of Hamilton’s best kept secrets is now being sought after for the areas picturesque waterfront views and homes rich in history and architectural heritage.
PLG Construction's work in the area has excelled at meeting both the personal design sensibilities of each customer, as well as, the characteristics of the area.
Restoration of a historical home built in the 1860’s that has been neglected over the past forty years. PLG Construction preserved and in some instances, recreated lost details to reflect the quality craftsmanship of the 19th century such as the custom porch on the South side complete with a stained glass window that was discovered underneath two layers of siding.
In addition the home was updated with 21st century amenities like spray foam insulation, new windows, high quality kitchen and baths, high efficiency furnace, tankless hot water system and heat recovery drains. The original wood structure had to be reinforced and repaired, the rubble foundations were repaired and replaced, and the basement was dug out from a depth of 12” to a standing height, complete with new water and sewer lines.
We added an approximately 2400 sq ft. addition to the rear of this house despite many challenges like restricted access to the backyard and the homes location perched on the side of the hill.
Features such as a walk out basement, fabulous floor to ceiling views of the bay, unique decks, as well as, an extensive two level great room provides this home with a sense of style and is the ideal location for entertaining.
We converted this run down cottage into an oasis that is modernized and updated while maintaining a rustic feel. A unique design was developed that allowed for an addition to be built in the centre area of cottage, which created a spacious great room with high ceilings and a beautiful staircase.
The second floor bedroom/bathroom has soaring ceilings and all the amenities, including an air jet tub, frameless glass shower stall, custom designed cabinetry and a stunning view of the bay framed in unique stepped windows that follow the roofline of the rear of the house.
A kitchen addition was added to this old double brick house with board and batten siding used to compliment the Victorian style of the period. This was a challenging project because PLG Construction was required to remove the brick wall from the first floor of the house while supporting the second floor, in order to provide an open concept kitchen that was both warm and inviting. Custom cabinetry, countertops and L.E.D lighting give the kitchen a modern functional feel.
